As Chief Administrative Officer (Center City Campus), Sr. Vice President & Vice Dean of Administration at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, Brian Squilla works directly with the President and senior level management involving operations, strategic planning and implementation, information technology, human resources, government affairs, institutional advancement and budget preparation. He also assists with the budget planning of the academic units and centers as well as the programs and institutes that fall under the responsibility of the President. Brian Squilla is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with deans, faculty and other stakeholders across Thomas Jefferson University.

Under the oversight of Brian in his role as Sr. Vice President for Administration, the President’s Office provides centralized services to all faculty to support the application and administration of sponsored research. The Research Administration Center of Excellence (RACE) is a shared service that provides faculty-centric research administration support across Thomas Jefferson University. The Office of Research Administration (ORA) assists researchers in applying for, managing sponsored research and providing education to support the management of sponsored programs. The Offices of Research Support Services (ORSS) has gained national recognition for its focus on creating a faculty-centric research administration infrastructure.

The Offices of Research Support Services (ORSS) is comprised of Thomas Jefferson University’s (TJU) Research Administration Center of Excellence (RACE), Jefferson’s Clinical Research Institute (JCRI: Business Operations division), Research Compliance, Research Planning and the Office of Research Administration (ORA). Together, these are the academic offices that provide administrative direction and guidance to the Jefferson research enterprise in support of it research mission.

Brian Squilla received his MBA from Temple University with comprehensive experience in all facets of Business Administration and Research Administration in prestigious academic healthcare institutions in Philadelphia.

Brian is actively involved in his community and has been an active member for the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA). Brian is a board member for the Philadelphia Packer Park Civic Association, Board member for Delaware Valley Youth Athletic Association, Board member for Sts. John Neumann and Maria Goretti High School and President of his homeowner’s association.

Brian has served in a variety of roles for the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) including serving as chair of NCURA’s Mid-Atlantic Region (Region II), chair of NCURA’s Mid Atlantic (Region II) Professional Development Committee, NCURA Board member, co-chaired the Pre Award Administration Conference in 2010 & a member of the NCURA Mid-Atlantic (Region II) Steering Committee from 2010-2018. Brian has also served as an NCURA Workshop Faculty from 2009-2014 and received the NCURA Mid Atlantic Region II Distinguished Service Award in 2015.
