DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Serves as the Chief Executive Officer of NCURA and Chairman of the Board of Directors.

DURATION:
1-year term, beginning January 1 and ending December 31.

A. Function of Position - Directs the organization in conjunction with the Board of Directors in accordance with NCURA’s strategic plan.

B. Essential Duties and Responsibilities & % Time Devoted
 - Essential duties include, working with the Executive Committee (the elected officers of NCURA) and the NCURA National Office to handle day to day issues that arise; preparing the agenda and directing NCURA’s Board meetings; representing NCURA at all official functions including conferences and regional meetings; and responding directly to member needs as requested.

The percent time devoted to the position will vary depending on the activities slated for the year. This is likely to include approximately one day per week with additional time required prior to Board and Executive Committee meetings.

C. Qualifications/Requirements

1.      Knowledge and/or Skills – Must be thoroughly familiar with NCURA both from a national and regional perspective. Must be able to communicate effectively to the membership, verbally and in writing. Must possess the ability to lead the Board of Directors in tackling the ambitious strategic plan. Must be able to facilitate discussions among Board members to build consensus.

2.      Education and/or Experience – Significant education and experience in the field of research administration, sufficient to support promotion of the goals and objectives of NCURA as a professional organization in the field of research administration.

D. Training and Support - May require local resources to support variety of activities for the President, including travel arrangements and secretarial assistance.

E. Additional Information
 (Benefits, Cost Reimbursement, Travel Requirements, etc) - All NCURA related travel is reimbursed. In addition, the Annual Meeting registration and lodging are covered by NCURA. President’s institution also provided with $500 stipend to assist with local costs incurred.

- NCURA Awards: Current National officers (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) and current NCURA Standing Committee (FMC, NLDC and PDC) Chairs and Vice Chairs are ineligible for nomination for an NCURA Outstanding Achievement in Research Administration Award or for a Distinguished Service Award.
