The Catherine Taylor-Core Travel Award

This program supports travel to the NCURA Annual Meeting for up to four individuals from institutions without the financial resources needed to support their attendance. 

Who was Catherine Taylor-Core?

For many years, Catherine, a research administrator at Howard University, was an active and respected member of NCURA. She recognized that financial considerations frequently prevent research administrators from taking full advantage of the benefits of NCURA membership. Through her leadership, NCURA developed its travel award program. In 1998, the program was named to honor Catherine as the woman most responsible for its implementation.

 

Award Eligibility and Application

This program supports travel to the NCURA Annual Meeting for up to four individuals from institutions without the financial resources needed to support their attendance. 

The awardees receive up to $1,500 toward their individual travel-related expenses associated with attending the Annual Meeting.  Interested individuals do not have to be members of NCURA to apply.  The conference registration will include the cost of NCURA Membership, if not currently a member. If you are currently a member of NCURA, the costs of membership renewal will not be covered by the travel award.  For those applicants from outside the United States, there is a Tiered Membership fee schedule that may be of interest. Eligible reimbursement will be based on expenses incurred (such as airfare, ground transportation to and from airports, airport parking, lodging, and meals not included in the meeting registration) and will not exceed $1,500. Each awardee’s institution/organization is responsible for the Annual Meeting registration.

Eligible candidate must:

  • Applicants need not be members of NCURA to apply.
  • Be engaged in the administration of sponsored programs for a minimum of one year.
  • Be employed at an institution without the financial resources needed to support their meeting   attendance.
  • Never have attended an NCURA national meeting (Annual, FRA, PRA).
  • Agree to stay at the host hotel for the duration of the meeting; and
  • Agree to submit a report on his/her annual meeting experience within thirty (30) days of the end of the meeting.

Applications for the Catherine Taylor-Core Travel Awards are due by April 3, 2026.
