NCURA's Commitment to Accessibility & Inclusion

NCURA is committed to hold meetings, conferences, and other professional events where barriers of any type do not exclude people from attending or participating in accordance with NCURA's commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

At all of NCURA's National Conferences we address the following access services:
- Hearing
- Mobility
- Vision
If you are in need of these services, and for additional information on these services, please contact Vanessa Martinez, martinez@ncura.edu

In addition to the above, NCURA accommodates all participants with food allergies & special dietary needs. During the registration process you may indicate your dietary need, including gluten free, Kosher, vegetarian, and vegan meals. For those who indicate a dietary need other than those four, NCURA will contact you directly to ensure we have your specific dietary need noted. NCURA communicates all dietary needs and food allergies to the meeting venue. Meal tickets indicating your specific dietary need will be provided at registration for food & beverage events. For additional information regarding food allergies and dietary needs, please contact Ronisha Crawley, crawley@ncura.edu.

Drink tickets will be made available for each reception event to ensure all participants are drinking responsibly. Mocktails and non-alcoholic beverages will be available at each of the receptions.

NCURA encourages its meeting attendees to refrain from using perfume, cologne, aftershave and other fragranced personal care products for the health and safety of our attendees.

Specific requests can be made to hotels within our block and the meeting venues that chemicals not be used on carpeting or guest rooms.

All NCURA events are smoke-free and, as often as possible, held in smoke-free venues. Smoking is not permitted in any meeting or session rooms, business or networking events, or NCURA-sponsored social events. Please be aware that some venues (i.e. specific hotels) may allow smoking in public areas. This policy also applies to those using e-cigarettes. Both types of cigarettes can be used in designated smoking areas as determined by the venue.

NCURA attendees with disabilities (including chronic pain) often have difficulty in crowded locations with unintended pushing or taps that have caused pain or loss of balance. Please be aware of this and be considerate of all attendees while onsite at events. If assistance is required onsite, please contact Vanessa Martinez, martinez@ncura.edu.

Specific requests will be made to NCURA meeting venues regarding adequate aisle space and cut-outs for wheelchair users in all meeting rooms and locations. Standard head tables include a tabletop microphone, podium, and podium microphone. If you are presenting and require alternative arrangements, please notify Tracey King, king@ncura.edu.

Every effort will be made to set meeting rooms/locations to accommodate all attendees both as speakers and audience members.

NCURA volunteer presenters are asked, in rooms where microphones are present, to use the microphone at all times, and repeat questions to support those needing amplification to hear.

NCURA will provide a locked room with a refrigerator for those nursing mothers who attend NCURA National Conferences. Please see an NCURA staff member at the registration desk for arrangements during the conference.

Pronouns are included on NCURA participant badges, when requested. Please make sure to use your colleagues preferred pronouns when addressing them.

NCURA will provide a Quiet Room for attendees to unwind in the midst of an energizing conference. This space is a laptop and phone free zone to support restoration for all. NCURA will also provide an alternative Work Space for conference attendees who may need to plug in and work.

Note: A separate quiet space will be available during Tuesday Night's Celebration. This space will not be serving food or drink.
