Research Security & Export Controls

Research Security & Export Controls

There is a lot of buzz about research security and new requirements for research security programs at academic institutions. Further, the topic of export controls is consistently cited in ongoing research security guidance and is included as a necessary element of an institution’s research security program development. While delays in implementation of the final guidance for National Security Policy Memorandum 33 have led to uncertainty around how institutions should approach research security program development, does NIH’s recent announcement of their research security program requirements mean the days of waiting are over?

This 2-day workshop will devote one full day each to the topics of research security and export controls. Each day will include a mixture of existing federal guidance, exercises, and examples that show participants how each topic applies to the academic environment. Whether your institution is research intensive or a small, primarily undergraduate institution, you will learn practices and strategies to assist in developing and improving research security and export controls programs at your institution.
