NCURA Magazine- Co-Editor

The NCURA Magazine keeps the membership informed of news and items of interest within NCURA, and in the field of research administration.

Three years.

  1. Function of Position - The Co-Editors of the Magazine are responsible for the overall content and production of the Magazine, including determining the contents of each issue, assigning articles to authors, overseeing deadlines for article submission, writing and editing, supervising layout, design and publication.
    Although an ex-officio member of the PDC, the co-editor is an integral part of the PDC team and is expected to participate in all aspects of PDC deliberations. This includes conference calls, subgroup projects, and the PDC meeting held every summer.
  2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities & % Time Devoted - See above; approximately one day per issue (5 issues per year) is devoted to Magazine responsibility.
    The PDC meets twice per year, and accomplishes much of its work through e-mail and monthly telephone communication throughout the year. Approximately two hours per week, averaged across a year, can be anticipated.
  3. Qualifications/Requirements
    1. Knowledge and/or Skills - Familiarity with NCURA, including its structure, organization, culture, regions and membership. Knowledge of research administration issues and current topics. Ability to manage production of a publication with a number of topics, with varying levels of seriousness. Ability to prioritize information for publication.
    2. Excellent writing annd editing skills.
    3. Participation in NCURA activities desirable.
  4. Training and Support - Extensive support is available from the NCURA staff.
  5. Additional Information (Benefits, Cost Reimbursement, Travel Requirements, etc) - Travel for Magazine business is reimbursed by NCURA.
