Robyn Remotigue

Robyn Remotigue is Executive Director of Research Services in the newly founded College of Nursing at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) at Fort Worth where she is currently building a research infrastructure within the college that will offer pre-award and post award services. Prior to this new role, she served for 11 years at the UNTHSC College of Public Health where she was founding Executive Director of Research Services. In this position she oversaw a College level team responsible for pre-award, post award and compliance administration of an average research portfolio of $12.5 million. Her experience with grants and contracts management at various institutions has provided her with 30 years of knowledge at the central, departmental and college levels.

While serving as Assistant Director of the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) at Mississippi State University (MSU), she assisted in managing a research portfolio of approximately $145 million. During her tenure she founded the subcontract managing unit within the OSP in response to the 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance. She also created and developed curriculum for the university department administrator certification program entitled Departmental Administrator Working Group (DAWG) at MSU. In addition, she was the senior contract negotiator for defense industry contracts involving the Bagley College of Engineering and the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems.

Since moving to the college level, she led the start-up of a cost center for biostatics which included establishing rates and business processes. She also introduced an electronic clincard payment system as a method of compensating research participants as well as creating other various processes and procedures to help manage the lifecycle of awards.

Her senior research administrator experience provides her with distinct skills in research development and evaluation of policies and procedures as well as the ability to investigate, analyze and problem solve to develop solid decisions. She provides consultation and guidance on all aspects of research administration including the interpretation and implementation of policies and regulations concerning sponsored research. She has represented her institutions on site visits and with funding agencies. In addition, she has been involved with the strategic implementation of a new organizational structure to support research operations and the implementation of change management activities to support this effort.

Past positions include Grants Information Specialist and Regulatory Compliance Officer both at Mississippi State University. In addition, she has served on many university committees such as the UNTHSC President’s Research Council, UNTHSC Research Advisory Council, College of Public Health (CPH) Executive Council, UNTHSC Built Environment Committee, Co-Chair of UNTHSC Supervisor Capabilities Committee, UNTHSC Engagement Champions, Chair of CPH Staff Council, and a graduate of the UNTHSC Navigating Leadership Development Program.

She has been a member of NCURA since 1999. She served and held a number of positions at the regional level such as the Region III Volunteer coordinator and current chair of the NCURA Region V (Texas/Oklahoma) Mustang Mentoring Program. She has also held positions on national committees including NCURA Secretary and Member of the Board of Directors, At-Large Member of the NCURA Board of Directors, Nominating Leadership and Development Committee (NLDC), Professional Development Committee (PDC), Education Scholarship Fund Select Committee, and numerous program committees. She has presented workshops and sessions and evaluated workshops at both regional and national meetings. For seven years, Robyn has been an NCURA traveling workshop faculty teaching SPA II: Critical Issues in Research Administration. As well as a Co-Editor for the NCURA magazine for 3 years. She is a graduate of the NCURA Executive Leadership Program and Leadership Development Institute.

In addition to serving as a Peer Reviewer, Robyn is Vice Chair of NCURA’s Nominating and Leadership Development Committee. She is also a contributor for the NCURA magazine.
