Jeffrey Ritchie is the founding Director of office of Sponsored Programs at Hamilton College, one of the oldest and most prestigious liberal arts institutions in the United States; he was also the founding Director of Sponsored Programs at Lewis University a Lasallian institution in suburban Chicago. In his role as founding Director at both of these institutions, Jeff created a full range of policies and procedures to guide the research enterprise, including the areas of proposal development, post-award financial accounting, and research compliance. At Hamilton College, he is the Chair of the Institutional Review Board and an ad hoc member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.

In addition to his institutional duties, Jeff is currently Board Emeritus (and former Chair) of the Research Administrators Certification Council, which provides the Certified Research Administrator (CRA), Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator (CPRA) and Certified Financial Research Administrator (CFRA) credentials. He was one of principal authors of the first CFRA Exam and has traveled the country providing workshops for research administration professionals who are seeking certification. In his Board Emeritus role, Jeff is guiding the organization toward accreditation by the American National Standards Institute. He has also served in the role of Adjunct Faculty at the institutions where he has worked, teaching composition and professional writing.

In addition to more than twenty years in university research administration, Jeff has more than a decade of project management experience in the private sector, having worked in the field of engineering and construction as a Project Controls Manager and as a Contract Officer on federal contracts with the Department of Energy. He is formerly and Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service, having provide tax advice and consultation to a variety of individual and business clients, with specific expertise in the area of taxation for non-profit and charitable organizations.

Jeff has been a member of NCURA since 2002, having served on several of regional and national committees. He is the former Chair of NCURA Region IV and recipient of the Region’s Distinguished Service Award in 2016. Jeff has presented workshops and sessions at both regional and national meetings. He is a 2009 graduate of the Leadership Development Institute. In addition to serving as a Peer Reviewer, Jeff is member of the NCURA Traveling Faculty who present the workshop “Level II: Sponsored Projects Administration.”
