NCURA's New Partnership with Cuba

 

NCURA Signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Higher Education, Cuba


On October 26th 2016, the Ministry of Higher Education (MES) of the Republic of Cuba and the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation for research among higher education institutions in the U.S. and Cuba. The purpose of this MoU is to acknowledge the existing relations between the institutions in both the U.S. and Cuba, and to promote the importance of strengthening the cooperation in scientific research activities between the countries.

The MoU signing ceremony was held in NCURA’s office in Washington, D.C., and was attended by representatives from both parties. The Cuba delegation included: 

Aurora Fernández González, Vice Minister of MES

Alicia Alonso Becerra, Provost from the Technologic University of Havana (CUJAE)

Luis A. Montero Cabrera, President of the Cuban Chemistry Society (SCQ)

Iliana Martínez González, International Collaboration Specialist at MES.

Alfonso Casanova Valdes, Second Secretary from the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba and Luis Javier Baró Báez, First Secretary, Cuban Mission to the UN also witnessed the signing ceremony.
