Special Conference Program Committee
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
From time to time, NCURA sponsors a conference on a topic of special interest to the NCURA membership and the larger research administration community. The Special Conference Committee is charged with developing the program, and presenting the conference.
DURATION: Usually nine to twelve months.
- Function of Position - The Chair coordinates and supervises the work of the Committee, determines the distribution of responsibilities, sets milestones for accomplishment, oversees the program design and options for publication and dissemination to the membership, and is responsible for the overall production of the Conference.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities & % Time Devoted - See above; time spent on Conference planning and organization varies with committee size and scope of the Conference. Normally two or three hours a week, with periods of more extensive effort while recruiting speakers, and again just before the Conference commences.
- Qualifications/Requirements
- Knowledge and/or Skills – Ability to coordinate the activities of six to twelve members of a committee; ability to prioritize program needs and assign responsibilities; ability to negotiate, and to coach and encourage members of the Committee as needed.
- Specific expertise in the topic area of the Conference is desirable.
- Training and Support - Support is available from the NCURA office, as well as consultation and advice from the PDC.
- Additional Information (Benefits, Cost Reimbursement, Travel Requirements, etc) - Travel necessary for program planning is reimbursed by NCURA. In addition, conference registration and conference lodging are covered by NCURA.
