Professional Development Committee
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Provide peer review of manuscripts submitted for Research Management Review (RMR) publication, NCURA's professional journal of scholarly writings on research administration.
Duration: Three year appointment with an option of reappointment. Appointment of new members and reappointment of existing members will be at the discretion of the RMR Editor. Members will have staggered terms.
Function of Position: To provide peer review of manuscripts (e.g. articles, notes, case studies, book reviews) submitted for publication in RMR to evaluate their overall merit, significance to the field of research administration and appropriateness for publication in the journal. Make recommendations for future manuscripts and potential authors to approach.
Essential Duties and % Time Devoted –
- Critically read manuscripts submitted to RMR and provide the RMR Editor with timely recommendations regarding their suitability for publication. Board members may provide suggestions and criticisms with the goal of strengthening the merits of submitted manuscripts.
- Make recommendations for future manuscripts and potential authors to approach.
- The RMR Board communicates via email and conference calls.
- Attend annual National NCURA meeting and participate in the Editorial Board meeting and other activities related to the RMR.
- Approximately 4-5 hours per month on average required.
Qualifications/Requirements –
- Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience in, the field of research administration.
- Prior experience in writing and/or editing scholarly articles preferred.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Must be an NCURA member.
Training and Support – Support is provided by the NCURA office, the RMR Editor, and the Professional Development Committee.
