Sara Bible

Sara Bible

Sara Bible is the Associate Vice Provost for Research at Stanford University.  Sara is responsible for research administration policy development university-wide and has oversight responsibility for export controls, conflict of interest and research administration training for faculty and administrators. In the Dean of Research Office she is also responsible for research administration, finance, facilities planning, faculty affairs, human resources, information technology, and external relations for the University’s seventeen interdisciplinary research laboratories, institutes and centers.

Prior to her current position Sara was the Director of Cost and Management Analysis (CMA) and Associate Director in the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR). As CMA Director she was responsible for the development and negotiation of facilities and administrative and fringe benefits rates. As Associate Director in OSR, Sara was responsible for negotiation and management of contracts and all post-award grant and contract activities for Stanford’s School of Medicine. In previous positions at Stanford Sara has been responsible for oversight of service centers and property management. Sara was a founding member of Stanford’s grassroots compliance and training initiatives in the mid 1990s and still plays a leadership role in those endeavors. She has developed policies for Stanford in the area of direct costs as well as indirect costs. Sara led Stanford in authoring and issuing the first Cost Accounting Disclosure Statement in the country. She has also participated in various Government/University task forces to improve and simplify federal regulations. She served as co-chair of the task force on Elimination of Regulations That Add No Value, which is part of the Federal Demonstration Partnership’s Initiative to Reduce Administrative Burden. Sara is a frequent speaker in the areas of research administration compliance, direct and indirect costing, service centers, and property management.

Sara has been involved with NCURA for over a decade by being a presenter at many regional and national meetings. She served as faculty member for the NCURA Fundamentals for three years. Sara has also served on planning committees for NCURA Financial Research Administration Conferences, NACUBO and the Western Region Conference on College Cost Accounting.
