Patricia Hawk is the Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs at Oregon State University. Pat has been involved in research administration for more than 25 years. She began her career as a research administrator in the Office of the Associate Provost for Research at the University of Virginia. Pat has also worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development as an Extramural Projects Coordinator. In 1998, Pat returned to the university research community, first serving as a Sponsored Projects Administrator in Research Services and Administration at the University of Oregon before going to Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) to serve as the Assistant Director of the Sponsored Projects Administration Office. She left OHSU and joined Oregon State University’s Business Affairs Office in June 2004. In Business Affairs, her primary responsibility was to prepare OSU’s Facilities and Administrative (F&A) rate proposal and create associated policies and procedures, including review and revision of OSU’s Disclosure Statement (DS-2). As the Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs, she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the pre-award functions at OSU and serves as the signatory authority and as a Contract Officer.
Pat’s been an active member in NCURA during her research administration career, not only serving as a regional officer in Regions III and VI, but also chairing one of NCURA’s committees at the national level. She has also served on national and regional program committees, including FRA III and the 39th Annual Meeting Program Committee, and as Co-Chair of both the 47th Annual Meeting Program Committee in 2005 and FRA VIII. Pat served as a co presenter on NCURA’s satellite videoconference entitled “A-110 for Departmental Administrators”. She has also served as a faculty member for NCURA’s Fundamentals of Sponsored Projects Administration Workshop and Financial Research Administration Workshop. Currently, Pat serves as Chair of NCURA’s Professional Development Committee.
