Dear Colleagues,

So much has happened since we were last planning for FRA. Last year we celebrated both the fiftieth anniversary year of NCURA and the tenth FRA conference by looking back and reflecting. This year it seems there is no time for looking back and only the brave dare look ahead. These interesting times should make for an interesting and dynamic, yet also practical, program for FRA XI. Our conference theme,

Adapting
Recovering
Repositioning
Advancing,

addresses the challenges presented by the continuing effects of both the economic downturn and the response of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) while also embracing the promise of the ARRA. While research administrators have become accustomed to changing rules, moving targets and the reality of doing more with less, we recognize that the current combination of challenges is the most overwhelming most of us have had to face.
