Lisa Benson was named Director of Grants and Sponsored Programs at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in January of 2009. In this role she is responsible for Grants Administration for both pre and post award. Preceding this appointment she was named the Associate Director for Research Administration at CT Children's. She has 9 years of Research Administration experience and over 25 years experience in Research and Clinical Trial Coordination.

She began her career at the University of Connecticut Health Center from 1980 to 2003 where initially she was the Clinical Research Associate for the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department and the General Clinical Research Center.

Currently she is a member of National Council of University Research Administrators NCURA), Society of Research Administrators (SRA), Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) and the Society of Clinical Trials (SCT). She recently served on the Board of Directors for SoCRA from 2006 - 2009. She has been certified as a Clinical Research Professional since 1995. She has articles published in Applied Clinical Trials and Clinical Trials Administrator. She has spoken nationally at many conferences and has lectured on Clinical Trials Operations, Management, Budgeting, Negotiations and Centralized services.
