John Carfora holds graduate degrees from a number of colleges and universities, including The London School of Economics, Harvard University, and a doctorate from Teachers College, Columbia University. A recipient of several international research awards, John has lectured throughout the United States, Canada, Africa and Europe. He has been a professor of economics and an international consultant with clients such as American Airlines, Disney, and U.S. News and World Report. John also served as Director of International Education at the Russian Academy of Management in Moscow, and was founding Curator of the Sir Leonard Bertram Schapiro Collection at the British Library of Political and Economic Sciences.
Dr. Carfora is a member of the Board of Directors of the Immersive Education Initiative, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Alumni and Friends of the London School of Economics (1982-1990). Dr. Carfora wrote the Foreword to the bestselling book Universitas: The Social Restructuring of Higher Education in America, (1998), and co-authored a popular “vita” on the New Deal economist Stuart Chase (http://harvardmagazine.com/2004/09/stuart-chase.html). John is co-author of The Art of Funding and Implementing Ideas: A Guide to Proposal Development and Project Management (Sage, 2010), and is currently writing a book on decision-making and the academic presidency. John was a Fulbright Scholar to Ireland in 2009, received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Council of University Research Administrators in 2007, and was an IREX Fellow to the former Soviet Union (USSR) in the 1980s. Dr. Carfora is Associate Vice President for Research Advancement and Compliance at Loyola Marymount University.
