Jerry Fife has been involved in research administration for 35 years. The last 11 years has been at Vanderbilt. He served as the Director of Sponsored Programs at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill for 9 years and in a similar position at Mississippi State University for 5 years. He began his career at Purdue University where he served in various roles in the sponsored program area. Jerry is a member of the National Council of Research Administrators (NCURA) and has served as the President of the organization and is a recipient of NCURA's Distinguished Service Award. He has been active in the Council on Governmental Relations where he served as the Chair of the Costing Committee and on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. He has served as an author, co-author and contributing editor on numerous research publications and makes numerous presentations for NCURA, the Society of Research Administrators and others. He has provided management consulting to numerous universities and federal agencies on research related topics.
