Denise A. McCartney is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research Administration at Washington University (WU) in Saint Louis. She is responsible for the overseeing the pre-award and award management functions in the sponsored research offices. She is also responsible for research compliance, education and many research technology initiatives. She is responsible for developing and implementing research related policies, procedures and programs to support faculty research programs.

Prior to accepting this position in January 2001, Ms. McCartney was the Assistant Dean for Management Services at the Washington University Medical School where she was responsible for research administration, human resources, performance improvement and faculty affairs. During her 15 years in research administration, she has also served on several university committees and is active in a number of professional organizations.
