Patrick Fitzgerald is the Associate Dean for Research Administration for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Harvard University. Pat assumed this position in December 2006. Prior to Harvard part served as Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2004-2006 and Director of Cost Analysis at MIT from 1997-2004. Pat has been involved in research administration for more than 17 years. Prior to MIT, Pat was Assistant Controller at Cornell University where he was responsible for indirect cost and a variety of costing and financial compliance activities.

Before moving to higher education, Pat worked for fifteen years in the commercial sector and held a variety of managerial accounting positions with two Fortune 200 manufacturing companies. Pat has served as the President, Vice-President and Immediate Past President of NCURA. He was the chairperson for the FRA II Conference in 2001, served on the NCURA Financial Management Committee and was Chair of the FRA Neighborhood. He has been a frequent speaker at NCURA meetings and workshops on costing topics including Cost Accounting Standards for Universities, cost sharing, effort reporting, and service centers.
