Kelly Hochstetler is the Senior Research Compliance Officer for the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In this role Kelly coordinates a wide range of research compliance programs for the main campus in Fairbanks and rural campuses across the state. Upon accepting this newly created position in 2003, Kelly was charged with developing institutional compliance policies and creating an export compliance program for the university. Kelly continues to serve as the primary institutional official responsible for the day-to-day management of the university's export controlled activities. Her duties include performing reviews of proposals, award documents, non-disclosure documents, and other sponsorship or partnering agreements to identify potential export issues; providing training and guidance to university researchers and support staff; preparing license applications and other correspondence to regulatory agencies; and, working closely with the University of Alaska system's Office of General Counsel and outside counsel to effectively manage UAF's export activities.
Kelly received her doctorate in biological sciences from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Kelly has been a member of the NCURA Compliance Neighborhood Committee since 2007 and is a founding member of the Association of University Export Control Officers formed in 2008.
