Denise A. McCartney is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research Administration at Washington University in Saint Louis. She is responsible for the administrative support activities for pre-award, research education and research compliance in conjunction with the University Compliance Office. She is also responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of research policies, research technology systems and communication to the university research community. In her current role she has been charged with enhancing support for the research programs of the Washington University faculty. She has recently focused on enhancing the University's administrative procedures supporting conflict of interest, research administrative systems, scientific integrity and postdoctoral appointments.

Prior to accepting this position in January 2001, Ms. McCartney was the Assistant Dean for Management Services at the Washington University Medical School where she was responsible for research administration, human resources, and faculty affairs. Before working at the University, she served in several administrative capacities at Barnes Hospital. Ms. McCartney received her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
