As Associate Dean for Research Administration, Alex directs the Office of Research Administration at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (BSPH) and provides leadership and guidance to BSPH on federal regulations and sponsors pertaining to research activities, compliance and technology transfer. Last fiscal year BSPH received approximately $300 million in extramural sponsored projects. Alex has been a member of the National Council of Research Administrators since 1990, has served on numerous panels as both moderator and speaker and is the current Chair-Elect of NCURA Region II.
Alex serves as the Co-Chair of the Federal Demonstration Partnership’s Contracts Task Force and as a member of the Council on Governmental Relations’ Contracts and Intellectual Property Committee. Last year, she also had the honor of serving as the inaugural Chair of the Coeus Consortium. Prior to joining BSPH she was the Assistant Vice President for Research Administration and Advancement at the University of Maryland, College Park.
She holds a J.D. from the University of Baltimore, with dual concentrations in Business Law and Intellectual Property, an M.B.A. from the Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. from Towson University.
