Description

In our time-starved, information-overloaded world what do the best presentations have in common? They explore content most relevant to the audience, assist them in identifying practical actions they can take, engage and involve them as much as possible, and communicate information in the most compelling and visually-interesting way.

Delivering such first-class learning experiences requires a great deal of intention and attention to all aspects of the program ... from the design and delivery of the content ... to its presentation and facilitation. This full-day session will provide you both the principles and practices and the tools and techniques to do so and leave you more capable and confident as a presenter/facilitator.

Our morning content focuses on what we know about adult learners and how this can inform presentation design. We'll review the characteristics of powerful learning experiences and easy-to-use techniques that can enhance participant interaction and understanding. You will do an initial design on a 30-minute talk on the topic of your choice.

The afternoon includes a peer review of your draft design and time for you to do some initial revisions. We'll also explore the personal skills, behaviors, and practices of effective presenters and facilitators and how to manage the types of participants and situations you commonly encounter. Finally, we will review best practices for information so that your slides and any handouts help you achieve your presentation's goals.
