Joe Gindhart is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research Administration at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU). Starting out as a staff accountant, he has been involved in post award financial research administration for over 26 years. During 2015 he also assumed responsibility for the pre-award functions at WashU.   Currently, he directs a staff of 40 that manage more than $610 million sponsored research funding/expenditures. Prior to his current position, he was the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Finance and Director at WashU, Manager of Contracts and Grants at the University of Georgia and Director of Sponsored Project Finance at the Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation. Joe started his professional career with KPMG Peat Marwick after receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Boston College.  

 

Joe is an active member of NCURA and has presented on numerous occasions at both the National and FRA meetings.  Within the NCURA Micrograph Series, he is a co-author of the “Effort Reporting: An Overview”.  He is an active faculty member for the Senior Level Leadership Workshop and has also taught the Financial Research Administration and the Fundamentals in Sponsored Project Administration Workshops. Within the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP), he serves as WUSTL’s Institutional Representative and was the Co-Chair - Financial Reporting/Audit/Costing Subcommittee and a member of the Executive Committee during Phase V.  Currently, he sits on the Council on Government Relations’ (COGR) Board of Directors and is a member of Costing Policies Committee.
